The Easy Face reveals that much of the magic is only to be found in Q2, thereby cutting in half the trouble of sourcing, sorting, and testing for leakage germanium transistors. It uses a (common) silicon transistor for Q1 (PNP 2N3906), with a germanium (2SB33) transistor for Q2. Both of those are common NPN silicon transistors, so that makes things nice and easy for Fuzz Face tweaking and experimenting.įWIW, if you aren't totally sold on using silicon transistors, I think it's worth it to build an Easy Face. Just FYI (if you don't want to investigate the link above), the transistors to use are: If you use the silicon transistors in the Axis Face, then the gains are similar.
